One Day Late and a Dollar Short

I’ve been had.

Curses.

And to be 100% honest – I’m quite upset about it.

I feel as if I’ve been cast aside.

A major corporation has wronged me.

Like, what did I ever do to them?

And when I say MAJOR corporation, I do mean a MAJOR corporation.

So what do I do?

Do I boycott?

Nope – can’t really do that.

See, as wronged as I have been, boycotting is not really an option.

And make no mistake – I’ve been wronged.

If I can’t boycott, then what can I do?

Can I write a strongly worded letter?

I could, yes, I could write a strongly worded letter voicing my displeasure.

But what good would it do?

Do I expect them to suddenly reverse course?

See, I am not the only one upset by this decision.  Nope, far from it.

I am but one of thousands, or dare I say millions, that is most upset by this decision?

Yes, I do believe I can.  I do believe, in all honesty, that millions, that’s millions with an “M”, are upset by this decision.

So while I could take comfort that millions of others might also feel wronged, we are most likely feeling wronged for different reasons.

As wronged as I have been, I do feel that my level of wrongedness (I’m making that a new word) could be held to a higher plane.  Or is it a higher plain?

Either way – Plane or Plain – Dang it, I’ve been wronged.

But being I am dealing with a major corporation, I expect no restitution, nor do I ask of any.

See, it is what it is.

But yet, it hurts.  It hurts me in my heart.

Ok – so here’s the deal.

I am in Florida, with my family and we are making our plans for the week.

I’ve had a hard few months.  I’ve worked incredibly hard with but a few days off here and there.  But even on a day “off”, there are still things that have to be done and tasks that need to be accomplished.  So let’s just say BecauseJimSays is tired.

As I got myself ready for this trip/vacation I had to reacquaint myself with my blog piece I wrote some time ago about how a dad could survive Disney.

Do you remember it?

Sure you do.

See, while I thoroughly enjoy Disney, it’s a very long day in the parks.  Not just a long “Day”, when you go to Disney you actually have several long days in a row.  And let’s face it, sometimes guys get tired.

In my post, “A dad’s Survival Guide to Disney” I spoke of the importance of a nap.

Not a nap in the real sense of the word, but rather a “Disney Nap”.

See, I don’t need a whole entire set up with a bed and a pillow and a blanket, or even a couch.

Nope.

I just need a few minutes to close my eyes and regroup.

Don’t we all need that?

Well, at Disney, I know of several places where a dad can get a nap.

When you’re a dad and you are there with the family there’s a lot of walking and carrying things and kids to deal with.

Not an actual “nap” but just a few minutes to shut your eyes and regroup.

But you have to plan in advance.

You have to be strategic.

You have to make sure that all the other persons in your party are entertained to the point where they don’t need you in your “dad” role.

Plus you have to space them out and use them in a time sensitive manner.

You can’t hit a good nap spot too early, or you’ve used a nap spot when you didn’t need it.

You also don’t want to use two nap spots back to back.

And I have them not only listed, but also ranked.

Knowing I am coming to Disney, see we plan our stays on the app, so Disney knows we are coming.

Do you think they hang a banner welcoming us back?

No – they did not.

Instead – guess what they did?

They closed my Number 1 Primo Napping spot.

YES – they closed the Muppet Vision 3D.

And, as you are aware, it is THE PRIMO napping experience.

And get this …… are you ready for this complete BS?

Our first day on Disney Property was 6/8 – yes, June 8 – but guess when they closed it?

Yup – you guessed it – THEY CLOSED IT ON JUNE 7.

See, they knew.

They knew I was coming, so they closed it just to get me.

Who do they think they are?

Do they not know who I am?

I mean seriously, who closes it on a Saturday as the last day?

Why not make the last day/night a Sunday, as any rational person would.

A day late and a dollar short.

But have no fear.

Defeat if not in my mantra.

I will overcome.

I will adapt.

I will have to make some adjustments to our usual Hollywood Studios routine.

But I am resilient.

But make no mistake.

If, in The Magic Kingdom, they ever – EVER – close The Enchanted Tiki Room there will be problems.

Mark my word – THERE.  WILL.  BE.  PROBLEMS.
