Nope – I Won’t Fall For It

Nope – I Won’t Fall For It

When I sit to type something out for BecauseJimSays, sometimes I have to give it thought.

And other times it just writes itself.

And this is one of those times.

I wasn’t born yesterday.

You can’t fool me.

See, when I first saw this, I thought it cool.

But now that I’ve had time to reflect on it, and think about it – it gets a big “Oh Hell No” from me.

You’ve heard me applaud Buc-ee’s  and how they are revolutionizing the gas station world.

I’ve said that Buc-ee’s is where Wal-Mart meets WaWa.

But WaWa can’t compete on their own with Buc-ee’s.

I’m not even sure that they want to.

WaWa has it’s business model.  Most WaWas look the same and for the most part – they are the same.

And Wal-Mart is, well, it’s Wal-Mart.

Some are better and some are worse.

No one “likes” to go to Wal-Mart, but we do.

Admit it – you do.

We can get most of what we want all under 1 roof.  And it’s cool to get everything done at one place.

But maybe, just maybe, Wal-Mart saw my post and decided they need to up their game.

So they did this:

Nope – I can not get behind this.

Part of the allure of Waffle House is that you never know what might happen.

Especially at night when a drunk and unruly customer wants to be combative.

*Side Note 1 – you’ve seen those clips – right?

I thought at first it would bring great entertainment value, cause come on, we’ve all seen the selected photos of Wal-Mart shoppers.

But now that I’ve had some time – it’s a “NO” from me.

Wal-Mart is trying to compete with Buc-ee’s in a way.

Kind of.

Sort of.

And if you look closely at the pic, you’ll see a Wal-Mark worker manning the Waffle-House eatery.

I enjoy watching the Waffle House cook do his thing.

Now, it’s possible that it’s still a Waffle House cook back there slingin’ hashbrowns, but why make him wear the Wal-Mart smock I don’t know.

I like the Waffle House being it’s own stand alone place with it’s grill right in back of the counter and you can watch the cook do his thing.

You don’t go for the food – you go for the experience.

But this is a fail from me.

Boycott worthy?  No.

But it is a fail.
