It’s them against the world.
Only each other to count on.
Only each other to take care of them.
The world can be a dark and lonely place. But when you find someone you can love and that will love you back, there’s nothing you can’t conquer.
These two lovers had that something special.
They were often seen by candlelight, doin’ the town and doin’ it right.
And oh, did they like to dance.
Yes they did.
They were often doing the jitterbug and they did the shimmy.
*Side Note 1 Perhaps it was all that dancing that made Sam so skinny.
See, when I picture Susie and Sam, I didn’t picture Sam skinny.
I picture Sam as kind of short and a little pot-bellied.
But it seems all they did is dance.
They whirled and they twirled and oh yeah – they also tango’d too.
They also ate.
They nibbled on bacon and they chewed on cheese.
Was it the dancing or the eating that got them to fall in love?
Not sure.
We may never know.
But if the lore is right, it was right after dining on bacon and chewing on cheese cheese that Sam asked Susie to marry him.
They were so young and oh…. So foolish.
They wiggled and they giggled.
Sam did tickle her fancy and he rubbed her toes.
These two youngin’s …. So in love.
With all the danger in this world, it’s nice to hear a tale of two young lovers, going through their daily lives. Keeping it real. Looking out for each other.
War going on in Eastern Europe (again) and in the Middle East (again) – but Sam and Susie don’t care.
It didn’t affect the love they have for each other.
Sam and Susie were blind to the problems of the outside world.
Now I’m sure they have problems.
Do they have enough to eat?
Do they have shelter to stay warm?
Do they have an ample supply of water?
Can they get across the street without being hit by a car?
They are in love but they live in a dangerous world, with uncaring people just passing them by, blind to their struggles.
Oh to be young and in love without a care in the world. Just dancing and nibbling on bacon and chewing on cheese.
Wouldn’t those be the best of days?
Just like Sam and Susie, two muskrats in love.
Perhaps you’ve heard their song?
I sure hope Sam and Susie made it.
I sure hope they didn’t get hit by a bus.
