Ugh…. It’s not quite 2 am and I have a bit of Insomnia going on.
It seems, according to Google: insomnia is a common sleep disorder. With insomnia you may have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or getting good quality sleep. This happens even if you have the time and the right environment to sleep well. Insomnia can get in the way of your daily activities and make you feel sleepy during the day.
*Side Note 1 – sometimes Google tells you things you didn’t know – and then there’s times when Google is of no help at all.
I have things to do, so often I just get up and do them. Right now I have a bit of print work to do, so I’ll knock that out. It was something I kind of forgot about, so I just got up to start it.
But then my mind kind of wandered off.
*Side Note 2 – Yes…. Again….
If I can’t sleep perhaps I have insomnia.
But if I can’t sometimes remember things, might I have Amnesia?
After seeing what Google has to say about it, it appears that, no, I do not have amnesia.
Amnesia is, according to Google: a general term that describes memory loss. The loss can be temporary or permanent, but amnesia usually refers to the temporary variety. Causes include head and brain injury, certain drugs, alcohol, traumatic events or a medical condition.
So, one might have insomnia based on 1 or 2 nights, but forget 1 or 2 things and you don’t necessarily have amnesia
*Side Note 3 – aren’t you glad I cleared that up?
BUT – and here’s where my mind wandered: what if you had/have insomnia and amnesia at the same time?
Might it be that the reason you can’t sleep is that you forgot to go to sleep?
And if you have a bit of amnesia whilst you have insomnia, how will you know you have this insomnia and are not sleeping?
And how many nights were you unable to sleep?
That might be a good question, but one you might not be able to answer.
Sure, perhaps you might keep a journal to keep track of your sleep; or your lack of sleep.
And if you did keep this journal of your sleep record, or lack of sleep record, if you in fact DO have insomnia, you might forget to write things down.
SO maybe you THINK you didn’t sleep, when in fact you DID sleep, but you forgot that you slept.
The Mind is a great mystery.
Great – now I’ll never get back to sleep.
