As I made my breakfast this morning I had to take a second to ponder a thought.
Well, it was actually more than a second – I stood there in deep thought.
See, there are many questions that we’ll just never answer.
What came first, the chicken or the egg?
What is Heaven like?
These are questions we’ll never know the answer to.
But, what about the questions you never knew to ask.
So not only don’t you know the question, but once you hear the question, you’ll also not know the answer.
That is what I pose to you with this post.

Ok – let me set the scene ….
Got to go to Bridgeville this morning to do some work.
My shoulder still hurts from my partial rotator cuff tear.
*Side Note 1 – the outpouring of everyone wishing me well and a speedy recovery has been overwhelming.
I need to take my prescribed pain relief medication
*Side Note 2 – that makes me sound like less of an old person than, “Have to take my pill”
I can’t take it on an empty stomach, so I needed to make something to eat.
Decided to make myself a BLT.
I have all the ingredients that I got the other day from The Lion.
With bacon cooking, tomato sliced and lettuce peeled off into correct sized pieces to fit properly, it was time for the toast.
Here’s where most restaurants or breakfast sandwich places lose me. I like my bread toasted correctly. Simply put, I like it TOASTED. Not put in the vicinity of the toaster where it might get warmed – NO – I want it toasted brown, and toasted brown thoroughly.
As I get out the loaf of bread, a thought hit me.
And then I asked myself a question that I don’t think anyone has asked, and then I was stumped.
For I didn’t have an answer.
In fact ….. I still don’t.
Ok – now follow me here.
The question: What is the 2nd piece of the sliced loaf of bread called?
We have many different words for the first piece of a sliced loaf of bread, the end piece. Is it the “Butt” or is it the “Heel” or is it “The End Piece”?
That aside, since it is on a loaf of bread, does that not make it “The 1st piece”?
Maybe.
But maybe not.
If it has a separate name, then one might argue that it’s technically NOT the 1st piece of bread.
Does that make the 2nd piece of the sliced loaf the 1st piece?
Kind of a quandary isn’t it?
See, if it’s the 2nd sliced piece of a loaf of bread, then wouldn’t that make it the “2nd piece of bread”?
BUT – if the 1st sliced piece of the loaf isn’t considered a piece of bread, and is called the “butt” or the “heel”, then that 1st piece of the sliced loaf doesn’t count.
Right?
So then the actual 2nd piece of the sliced loaf would be the 1st piece of bread.
Right?
So there I stood in the kitchen in deep thought.
Is the 2nd piece of the sliced loaf of bread, the 1st piece of bread, or is it the 2nd piece of bread?
Hummmmm ……
