From Joy To …..

What joy !!!

“Happy Happy Joy Joy” – right?

You ever have that moment when you had an unexpected joy?

But then – BAM !!!

Joy is snatched away and replaced with disappointment.

But, seriously, now that I’m sitting here typing this out, I’d have to say that the disappointment should have been expected.

Now, this isn’t going to be one of those posts where I drag out my story and use all types of colorful anecdotes.

*Side Note 1 – I’ll also not use a bunch of side notes.

I was driving along today and while at a stop light I felt I needed just a little something.

I didn’t want to stop anywhere.  I wasn’t in a particular hurry, I just didn’t feel like stopping.

So I looked in the center console – and there it was – a crumbled up package of Jolly Ranchers.

Of my favorite hard candies, I’d have to say Jolly Ranchers are in the top 2.

*Side Note 2 – I don’t know what the other one might be, but there might be one other, not sure.

               *Side Note 3 – Oops.

Ok – PERFECT – I could go for a Jolly Rancher.  That would hit the spot.

And no joke, right then, the sun came out from behind a cloud and shined right into the truck.

YEAH !!!

That would hit the spot nicely in fact

I knew there had to be something in it.  See, if it were empty, I would have thrown the package away.

And sure enough, there was one left.

Light turned green and I started moving forward, still working the plastic packaging to get the one that was left.

I wasn’t concerned about it’s shelf life, because I had gotten the package semi-recently and it wasn’t too long ago.

*Side Note 4 – hold on there cowboy – NO – I didn’t eat the whole package alone, Charlotte would often grab 1 or 2 on the way to school.

*Side Note 5 – she always – ALWAYS – takes the blue ones.

I had a good grip of the last Jolly Rancher and I pulled it out ready to unwrap, BUT …

Disappointment reared it’s ugly head.

What the hey – it was of course …… green apple.

Seriously?

Green Apple?

From Joy to Heartbreak.

From High to Low

From Happiness to Despair.

From Expectation to Disillusionment.

From Serenity to Anguish

Oh well.  I unwrapped it and stuck it in my mouth.

As I mentioned earlier, now that I think about it, of course that’s the one that was left.

It’s my least favorite.

*Side Note 6 – Watermelon might be my favorite.

I’m pretty sure if it were anything but green apple, it wouldn’t have been left.  But being green apple, I wasn’t in a hurry to eat it.  So the fact that it was the flavor left was no surprise.

It did make my ride a little bit more enjoyable.

But just a bit.

*Side Note 7 – sorry Kate about all the side notes

Yeah right …. Like Kate actually reads my blog.
