We’ve lowered ourselves as a culture.

Among the things that Donald Trump has done to America is, he’s brought back hate and rudeness.

I’ve always felt with each generation, we were evolving as a society. 

But – NOPE.

Trump brought back hatred.

And now, you can take comfort in joining with others to hate the same people you hate.

I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again:  Why can’t we all treat each other ALL THE TIME like we do when we are exiting and entering WaWa.

You’ve heard me go on and on about Buc-ee’s and how they are almost at the point of World Domination.  BUT – Buc-ee’s has motion detection opening doors and WaWa still has doors you have to manually open.

And it’s so refreshing that no matter who the other person is, you hold the door for them.

And there is always a pleasant exchange between these two total strangers.

Just yesterday ……

I approached the first set of outer doors at WaWa to get a cup of coffee.  I saw another guy about my age approaching from the opposite direction and I was determined to get there first so I could hold the door, but instead we both got there the same time. 

I opened one door and the other gentleman opened the other door, and for a split second we didn’t know who should go.  And then we realized, just as we had opened both outside doors, two other gentlemen at the same time opened both inner doors for each other.

So there we stood for that awkward second, you know, that awkward second that feels like 10 seconds, all four of us holding the door for each other.

All four of us had places to get too, yet all four of us wanted to be polite for the other person.

So I spoke up, “We could be here all day”.  Which drew a small chuckle.ve all be different

“Okay”, I then said, “I’ll go first”.

I went through the door being held for me and said a nice, “Thank you” to which a, “You’re welcome” was replied.

And I got my cup coffee and went about my way.

We were all total strangers.  We could have all been different religions, we could have both worshipped Trump and hated Trump, we could have been of different sexual persuasions or we could have been different nationalities.  Hell, maybe one of us was an immigrant.

None of that mattered. 

We were just four strangers being polite.

Think about that.

Four strangers being polite and courteous.

It’s time we get that back.
