Sometimes I get a bit busy.
Sometimes I literally need to be two places at the same time doing two different things.
Jeez……
My wife and I will often say to each other, “We’re too busy to be this broke”.
You know what I mean?
But I did it.
I found a way to actually save time.
I figure in 10 years, I will have saved myself 4 hours.
*Side Note 1 – YES, I did the math.
I understand the reason there exists a Leap Year.
Every year the earth doesn’t exactly orbit the sun in 365 days.
It’s close.
But close would really screw things up if not corrected.
That .2422 days extra would start to add up.
Before you know it, it’d be 83 degrees on Christmas Day and 27 degrees on the 4th of July.
So they created a Leap Year to add a day every 4 years to correct the pendulum and make the calendar correct.
With that concept in mind, I have done it.
I figured out how to add time to my schedule.
No, I have not figured out yet how to be 2 places at the same time.
I’ll work on that, but without a science background, not sure that’s going to happen.
But I now have 4 hours extra.
Sure, it’s in ten years, but I need to start planning ahead.
How will I spend this time?
Not sure yet.
But in 2034, I have an extra 4 hours.
Will I travel? I don’t know.
Will I see a show? Not sure
Will I spend that time with my wife making her the beneficiary of this extra 4 hours? HEY – THAT’S an idea.
The possibilities are endless.
I could take a nap. Sure, that sounds like an idea.
In 2034, I’ll probably be tired with this schedule I’ve been keeping.
The possibilities are endless.
Are you ready to find out how I created this extra time?
I’d like to say I created this extra time through planning and research.
But no.
I stumbled on this time savings quite by accident.
I was at WaWa getting a cup of coffee.
Often my Keurig in the morning isn’t enough and I need that 2nd cup.
*Side Note 2 – you did read my first blog post ever, right?
Well, at WaWa they made a slight change.
At WaWa the coffee stirrers are wrapped in plastic.
I used to push one end of the coffee stirrer up to break it free of the plastic, and that free’d the stirrer from it’s plastic sheath and then I’d go about stirring my coffee.
But a while back, the plastic used seems to have changed. The stirrer no longer pushes through. It would instead, bend the stirrer and not break it free. Either the plastic got weaker or the plastic sheath got stronger.
So, like most people, I’d turn it around and try pushing it out the other end. And often it would still break the stirrer and STILL not free it from it’s sheath.
And then …. YEUREKA !!!
It hit me like a lightning bolt.
I discarded my stirrer, now broken in 2 places, in the trash and grabbed a new stirrer.
And …. Wait for it ….. I stirred my coffee with the stirrer still in the plastic.
BOOM.
Then, in my head, I did the math.
I’m guessing I save 3 to 5 seconds a trip to WaWa.
*Side Note 3 – there are several variables: location of the stirrers and where I position myself with my cup of coffee and also the proximity of the circular trash receptacle built into the counter. This is determined by the amount of people also getting coffee and that number of people is out of my control.
Another variable is how many times I stop at WaWa in a week.
By going with 5 seconds and if I stop every day, because sometimes I will even get a second WaWa cup in the same day, I am saving approximately 1 minute in 12 days.
That’s an entire minute.
I lowered that estimate to 2 minutes a month because I don’t stop every day.
But that still equates to 24 minutes in a year.
So in ten years, I have saved a conservative 4 hours of time.
4 hours is no small thing.
What would you do with 4 hours?
Think of the crime SnakeMan could fight with an extra 4 hours.
*Side Note 4 – okay, still no snake-like super powers, but I’m patiently waiting for it to manifest.
Think of the possibilities you’d have with 4 extra hours.
What would you do?
See, the purpose of my blog is not only to give myself a creative outlet, but also to inspire you.
You, my reader.
YES – YOU!!!
So go ahead.
Reach for the stars and plan your moves methodically.
Perhaps you will find your own time saving method.
Perhaps you will save 5 hours in a ten year period.
Will I be envious?
Yes.
But I still have my 4 extra hours.
But what if my extra hour happens on the wrong end of Daylight Saving?
Then I’m down to 3 hours.
Dang it!!!!
