Little Things Count

In Life we celebrate the “Big Wins”.

We remember the big events and the big ticket items.

We get a big promotion at work or we get a new job – BIG WINS !!!

We get married and we have a child (or two) – BIG WINS !!!

Big Ticket events and big moments are meant to be celebrated and shared with others.

But I like small victories too.

These small victories occur at random.  No planning went into them.

Recently, we decided to order a pizza from Grotto Pizza.  We kind of stopped going there.  A few little reasons here and there, but we just one day stopped going there.

I ordered a pizza and I ordered it a specific way: “All Pepperoni, ½ with sausage and the other ½ with bacon” (That’s how Kate likes it) and that’s how I ordered it.  And it came out wrong, as you would guess, all pepperoni and ½ sausage and ½ bacon on the same side, leaving the other side just ½ pepperoni.

The lady knew it was made wrong by looking at the ticket, she’s the same one that took the phone call.

Not upset, things happen, they got right on it and made the pizza correctly.  BUT – they offered the other pizza for my wait.

Small victory

*Side Note 1 – I called a nearby friend and offered the free pizza to them.

So that was a win.

But that’s not the small victory that inspired this post.

Nope.

The small victory happened on the way back from visiting Kate in Savannah, GA.

It was a long ride and it was just me and Charlotte as Lisa stayed down to bring Kate home for her break.

We ended up in Millsboro and after a stop at Lowes to pick up some lumber since I was going by, we decided Charlotte was a good trooper and deserved a stop at Chik-Fil-A.

We went through the drive-thru and, like all drive-thrus these days, they had 2 lines that converge into one line.  As we pulled into the line it was just us and a car that was already placing their order.  It was about 6:45 pm and after leaving Savannah at 4:30am, we were a bit tired.

We placed our order and then, BOOM!!!, after waiting a second or two for the car on my right to move forward, I moved ahead to pick up our order.

SMALL VICTORY – we got to the drive thru 2nd but got to the window 1st.

Ah…. The sweet taste of victory.

Even small victories count in my book.

No parades needed and no celebrations.

Enjoy the small things.

And smile.
