The NON-Joys of Snow

It’s been a while since we had a good snowfall.

That’s not a bad thing.

In my MUCH younger days, I enjoyed a good snow.

It meant time off school.

It meant time to play in the snow with friends.

It meant sledding down a hill.

But now it means only 1 thing.

Ugh…….

I wrote this some time ago and posted it on facebook a few years ago.  I’ve been waiting for a good snowfall to post it on here.  But it seems as if that snowfall might not get here./

I’m okay with that.

SICK OF SHOVELING SNOW!!!

I’m so sick of shoveling snow, it seems it’s all I do,

But I’m gonna finish this sidewalk and driveway before I am through;

I’ll be able to see the concrete, but I still won’t see the yard,

I was gonna pay that young kid $25, but he wouldn’t take a credit card.

__________

But my goal is plain and simple, to get our car out I will strive,

Then a DelDot truck comes by and piles it up at the end of the drive;

So I’ll shake my head in disgust, and go clear our drive once more,

Then I can get milk, bread and toilet paper, if there’s any left at the store.

__________

I can do it, I know I can, I’ve got the energy and the spirit,

But the snow starts piling up, not sure where I can put it;

The mounds are piling up as I throw it to the left and to the right,

But I had to come inside, there was this poem I had to write.

__________

I get a little tired and my back began to hurt,

I shovel to the end of the pavement, until I see the dirt;

I make it wide enough so we can get out our truck and van,

Then I gotta go out back and dig out our garbage can.

__________

But this winter won’t defeat me, I don’t care how hard it tries,

I’ll dream of warmer weather, the boardwalk and Thrashers French Fries;

I know it will stop snowing, perhaps maybe by July,

Until then I’ll keep on shoveling, beep the horn if you drive by!!!
