I Can Not

NO NO NO

And again, just for dramatic effect – NO !!!

I’m very excited for the Olympics.  Paris 2024 Winter Olympics.

I’m here for it.

While the Summer Olympics are more enjoyable for me, I do enjoy The Winter Olympics.

There are events I like and some that I pay no attention to at all.

It’s odd that I really like curling.

But there is a standard scoring system – and there are rules.

I like downhill skiing and I like snowboard racing.

Downhill skiing has a stopwatch to determine a winner and snowboard racing is an actual race with an actual winner.

There is a new sport making it’s debut in Paris 2024.

Let me correct that – there is a new LEISURE ACTIVITY making it’s debut in Paris 2024.

But I must state emphatically for the record – OH HELL NO!!!

Break Dancing.

Yes – you read that correctly.

BREAK DANCING !!!

IN. THE. OLYMPICS.

NO – NO – NO.

You’ve read about my criteria regarding sports.

Correct?

And here we go again.

BREAK DANCING IS NOT A SPORT !!!!

And I will not be calling it a sport.

Why?

IT’S JUDGED !!!!

Do I argue that it takes athletic ability?

No, I do not.

I know it does take a level of athleticism.  It takes strength and agility and stamina and flexibility.

STILL NOT A SPORT !!!

Who is to say Dancer 1 did a better job than Dancer 2 ?

Now – were they to do the same EXACT routine to the same EXACT music, then ok, judge on that.

But no.

Each dance routine will be different, each done with different music playing.

BREAK DANCING !!!

The Olympics have gone too far.

These dancers will actually be on a podium receiving an Olympic Medal for Break Dancing

Now – for the record.  The ICAD has it right.  The International Council of Amateur Dancers knows what it is doing and they know it’s proper place.  They have adopted a very isolationist policy that keeps it out of the traditional sports world.  Ballroom Dancing has been rumored to be making it’s appearance in the Olympics.  But it hasn’t happened yet.  Largely due to ICAD fighting against it’s inclusion.  They have their own competition and they want that competition to be their focal point and major competition.

Seriously?

Break Dancing?

What’s Next?

IS Stubbing Your Toe to be an Oympic sport?

Will Hanging Dry Wall be an Olympic sport?

Why not have Monopoly as an Olympic Sport?

How about Strip Tease Dancing?

Or how about Making Breakfast?

Omelette Making?

Beer Drinking?

Enough is enough.

  1. Clear-heely (see what I’d dif there) pole dancing may see it’s day! I’m with you on break dancing though. At least pole dancing uses core muscles.

I do enjoy your chats on life! Always makes me laugh!!
