The Ghost of Halloweens Past

The Ghost of Halloweens Past

I loved being the dad of two little ones.

But they are grown up.  Okay, maybe not “grown” up, but growing up and they’ve aged out of a lot of things.

Like Halloween Trick-or-Treating.  I enjoyed that.  It was fun seeing them happy and joyful, not a care in the world, except who would get the most candy.

I too liked dressing up and going out

So I’ll share with you my best three in what I think is the top 3 in order.

#1 – Blue Box.  EVERYONE recognized this iconic costume – and I had many people stop me to take pictures with their kids, as that was the only thing they’d eat.

#2 – ZOLTAR.  This took some doing.  I even had cards to give out if you inserted a piece of candy.  2 cards: “Your Wish Is Granted” and “Oh Hell No!!!”

#3 – as a lifelong Redskins’ fan, I dressed up as the oft injured RGIII

But, not this year.  This year Charlotte is taking over the passing out of the candy.  In The Sumstine house we have 2 types of treats.  Is you are of appropriate age, or if you put some effort into your costume, then you get a funsize piece of candy

*Side Note 1 – the whole “Fun Size” piece is a myth – what’s “fun” about these pitiful little pieces

OR – if you are too old to be Trick-or-Treating and you just put on a mask and you’re using a pillowcase, then you get an individually wrapped starlight mint.

*Side Note 2 – Sumstine House – Sumstine House Rules

I will miss being out with the ladies.  It was fun.  I’ll also miss seeing the girls dressed up as princesses and the boys dressed up as Super-Heroes

*Side Note 3 – my snake super powers have yet to develop, so I am sure no one will be wearing  my Snake Super Hero costume – maybe next year!!!

Maybe Next Year!!!
