WHAT DAY IS IT?

WHAT DAY IS IT?

Why, it’s NATIONAL COFFEE DAY!!!!!

Many different ways to drink coffee. MANY WAYS.

Me, I like 1 packet of Splenda, French vanilla coffee creamer and if I had to pick a specific coffee, I’d pick Berry Much  from a small independent local roaster Swell Joe.  Order it and tell them “Jim sent you”. If you tell them this and you buy one, they’ll let you buy a second one for the same price!!!  I’m not really a big fan of flavored coffees, but this coffee is quite good.  QUITE GOOD!!!!

I used to go for a darker coffee, but as I’ve gotten older – WISER – as I’ve gotten wiser – I go now for a medium roast.  A little smoother on my stomach.

I’ve told my oldest daughter that “Iced Coffee” doesn’t count.

And, because Jim says, coffee should be hot and tea should be cold.  England – go on somewhere.

The first post I ever made on this blog was a poem I wrote about My Keurig, so I’ll post it again today.

It’s not the first poem I wrote, but it is my personal favorite.

Ode to My Keurig

My Keurig, My Keurig, you’re always there for me,

Giving me that cup of coffee, even before that morning pee;

Into my favorite coffee cup, mixed with sugar and cream,

You and me in the am, we make one heck of a team.

_______________

Non-Coffee drinkers don’t understand the way you make us feel,

They drink their juice or tea, yeah, I know – for real;

You give us energy and help us start our day,

I don’t need anything fancy, like a chai tea or café au lait.

_______________

Many mornings a cup isn’t big enough, I need to use a mug,

It needs to cool a little, it burns my mouth when I chug;

I have to sip when it just comes out, ‘cause it comes out hot,

I like my Keurig, I really do, I like my Keurig a lot!!!

_______________

I marvel at the energy from the caffeine that it gave,

If it sits around too long, 45 seconds in the microwave;

I add a little sugar to make it a little sweet,

You keep your Mr. Coffee, for my Keurig can’t be beat.

_______________

Sometimes I use milk, sometimes maybe half and half

But I never will defile you by using (sigh)… decaf

I enjoy my cup ‘o Joe as I watch the morning news or maybe ESPN,

And when my cup is empty, I’ll hit your “Ready to Brew” button again.

_______________

You never disappoint me, always coming out strong and hot,

I make you one cup at a time, no need for a whole pot.

I’ll make a cup to go as I’m headed out the door,

Happy to drive right past a Starbucks, oh that place, I do deplore;

_______________

I might use already ground, or perhaps grind my own beans,

I only wish I knew what that “PRIME” message means;

But then I clean you and fill you and you’re as good as new,

As you wait to see what next flavor K-Cup I will brew.

_______________

So go ahead Mr Keurig, go on with your bad self

Always ready to deliver, waiting patiently on my shelf;

For that 1st cup in the morning, some might beg, steal or borrow,

But I know you’ll be there waiting with my cup of coffee tomorrow.
